URA Master Plan : Greater Southern Waterfront
To re-cap, the plans for the Greater Southern Waterfront District was conceptualised, and announced by URA in its draft Master Plan back in 2013. The plans cover a seamless stretch of waterfront developments, spanning 30km from Labrador Park to Marina East, is envisioned to transform the city centre and southern coastline into an exciting live-work-play District. This mega project is roughly three times the size of Marina Bay, and is poised to become the new Downtown which provides an array of varied and exciting waterfront lifestyle concepts.
Much progress has been made since then. It was shared by National Development Minister Lawrence Wong in March 2019 that the Greater Southern Waterfront development will start earlier, within the next five to ten years.
